Swedish automaker Volvo produces the Polestar 2 as a battery-powered five-door liftback under its Polestar subsidiary. The compact executive car was launched in 2019 and shares much of its predecessor’s features. It is available in both front-wheel and all-wheel-drive.
Overview
The Polestar 2 is totally worth considering. It is one of the excellent EVs money can buy with the reliable build quality and decent drive. When it was launched, the Polestar 2 was only available with a dual-motor setup, but it is now available with a single front-axle motor that produces 221bhp or 227bhp. Despite the modest differences in power, both cars claim to go 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds.
Reliability
The Polestar is still a relatively new company, but since Volvo contributes a lot to the running gear, we don’t expect too many issues with reliability. In Driver Power’s latest survey of customer satisfaction, Volvo came in 10th position out of 30 manufacturers, while the Volvo XC40, which shares the same CMA platform with Polestar 2, ranked 14th out of 75 best cars to own. Consequently, the Polestar 2 is expected to do well in terms of reliability ratings, but there are no ratings yet.
Safety
The Euro NCAP crash test results for the Polestar 2 were released in March 2021, and it received an overall rating of five stars and scores of 92%, 89%, and 86% for adult protection, child protection, and safety assistance, respectively.
Resale Value
In the second-hand market, the Polestar 2 performs exceptionally well. The Swedish hatchback is expected to hold on to around 60% of its original purchase price after three years and 36,000 miles, placing it right up there at the top of the class.
Maintenance and Repair
Each Polestar 2 comes with three years of free scheduled maintenance during the first three years of ownership, or 30,000 miles, whichever comes first. Scheduled maintenance can be purchased for an additional $603 to $2,668 for an additional three to ten years.
