Lexus LX Reliability

Lexus combines a high level of craftsmanship with exaggerated styling across its range of diverse models. It functions as the luxury division of the well-known Japanese automaker, Toyota, but with a greater level of personality and appeal. Since January 1996, Lexus, a luxury division of Toyota, has been manufacturing the Lexus LX, which went on sale in November 1995.

With a straight-six engine, the first-generation LX 450 had seating for seven passengers. The second-and third-generation vehicle had a V8 engine, full-size steel ladder frames (body-on-frame construction), and seating for eight passengers. In its second generation, the LX 470 shared its exterior styling with the Japanese domestic market Land Cruiser Cygnus. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged V6 engine and has seating for seven passengers as standard, or four passengers as an option.

Lexus’ LX 570 got the highest reliability rating in its class after many tests. It even got 4.5/5 stars from US News, which is the highest rating in Lexus’ class, as well as the second-highest in the United States and even higher than RepairPal’s aforementioned 3.5/5-star reliability rating.

As part of its crash-testing program, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the LX a four-star rating for frontal impact. Ratings have not been issued for overall crash protection or side-impact testing. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not conducted crash testing on the LX.
